Is it safe to take Pure Zzzs gummies while taking citalopram?

ZzzQuil Pure Zzzs contains melatonin as the active ingredient, so when it comes to potentially interactions, that is what we should be concerned with.
Having said that, there is no known interaction between melatonin and citalopram. They are considered safe to take together.
Melatonin only has one known interaction with an antidepressant, and that is with Luvox (fluvoxamine). In fact, some studies reported that co-administration of the two can increase melatonin levels over 20-fold due to the potential for Luvox to inhibit the metabolism of melatonin. This has not been shown to happen with citalopram, as it is metabolized via a different enzyme.
