Flakkita_23 asked
Do NyQuil and Pepcid AC have an interaction or am I able to take both around the same time?
At a glance
- There is no known drug interaction between Pepcid (famotidine) and NyQuil.
Answer

There is no known drug interaction between Pepcid (famotidine) and NyQuil, they are considered safe to take together.
It is important to remember that NyQuil is a 'combination ingredient' products, and contains three different drugs (the 'Severe' formula contains four). These drugs are:
- Acetaminophen (an analgesic/fever reducer)
- Dextromethorphan (a cough suppressant)
- Doxylamine (an antihistamine)
- Phenylephrine (a nasal decongestant)
None of these drugs are known to interact with Pepcid. They can safely be taken at the same time.
As a final note, Pepcid can be taken with or without food and with most other medications. The prescribing information for the drug states the following:
Bioavailability [the rate and extent of absorption] may be slightly increased by food, or slightly decreased by antacids; however, these effects are of no clinical consequence.
