I am prescribed Adderall 30mg 2xs daily. The pharmacy fills them on the 28th day. I pay cash because my insurance doesn't cover the medication. I had a death in my family and wouldn't be able to pick it up tomorrow the 28th day. Is there a law against filling it on the 27th day? I have never asked for an exception or asked for it early. I was curious to know if they are legally allowed to fill it or is it the policy of each pharmacy?

Pharmacy laws vary by state in regard to when you are allowed to fill controlled substance prescriptions, such as Adderall (amphetamine salts). In addition, your pharmacy may have a store policy that is more strict than your state laws. Your best bet to find your allowable fill date is to speak with your local pharmacist.
In regard to state laws, one example is for New York State. They allow an individual to have up to an extra 7 day supply of a controlled substance on hand. So technically, you are allowed to fill your controlled substance prescription up to 7 days early. This is colloquially known as the "7 day rule". Per NYS Controlled Substance Law Part 80:
"Unless an earlier refilling is authorized by the prescriber, no prescription shall be refilled earlier than seven days prior to the date the previously dispensed supply would be exhausted if used in conformity with the directions for use."The above only applies to New York State and laws will vary depending on where you live. You may be able to fill your Adderall prescription a day early, but be sure to ask your pharmacist for your allowable fill date.
