Can I take sulfur (i.e. sulphur) pills while taking Abilify?

Sulfur is a chemical element and is the third most abundant mineral In humans in regard to percentage of total body weight.
Most commonly, sulfur is used topically for a variety of indications including:
- Dandrouf
- Acne
- Dermatitis
- Scabies
- Cold sores
Topically, sulfur is thought to have antimicrobial properties and can help to break down keratin on the skin.
While less common, sulfur is also available as an oral supplement. There isn't much safety or effectiveness data regarding its use but a few studies have tested sulfur for certain indications, such as high cholesterol and for treating the common cold.
There are no known drug interactions with sulfur tablets and Abilify, but studies are lacking. Abilify can be taken without regard to meals and most supplements are not known to affect the absorption or effects of the drug. Nevertheless, it is important to let your doctor know if you are taking sulfur supplements so you may be appropriately monitored.
