Manya asked
I take Aldactone 100mg everyday as prescribed by my doctor. My concern was that can I take this multivitamin called halo beauty by Tati (you can google the ingredients) with it?
Answer
There are no reported or documented interactions between Halo Beauty Hair Skin & Nail Booster and Aldactone (spironolactone). However, it is important to note that no drug interaction studies have been completed to evaluate any potential interactions so it is difficult to say whether or not there are any to be concerned about.
Halo Beauty Hair Skin & Nail Booster contains the following ingredients:
- Vitamin C
- Vitamin D3 (Vegan from Lichen)
- Vitamin B1 (as Thiamine)
- Vitamins B2 (as Riboflavin)
- Vitamin B6 (as Pyridoxine)
- Biotin
- Zinc (as zinc methionine)
- Copper (as copper gluconate)
- Manganese (as manganese gluconate)
- Catalase
- Rosehip Powder Extract (4:1)
- Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM)
- Saw Palmetto
- Embilca Officianalis (Amla) 45%
- Tannins
- Grape Seed Extract
- Pumpkin Seed Powder
- Ceramide-Rx (Gluten-free Phytoceramides)
- Horsetail Equisetum arvense
- Astaxanthin
- L-Glutathione
- Alpha Lipoic Acid
As mentioned above, there are no reported interactions with any of the above ingredients and spironolactone. However, this doesn't necessarily mean there aren't any, just that we don't know of any due to the lack of studies. It is important to let your doctor know about any supplements you are taking so you can be monitored accordingly.
As a side note, spironolactone is often associated with hair growth, especially in women. Spironolactone acts as an androgen receptor blocker and inhibits dihydrotestosterone binding to receptors. One of the ingredients in Halo Beauty, saw palmetto, is thought to decrease the amount of dihydrotestosterone in the body. High amounts of dihydrotestosterone associated with hair loss, therefore both spironolactone and saw palmetto may help with hair growth.
