Sylray asked
If you take oxycodone, can you still take Tamiflu and Theraflu expressmax?
Answer
Oxycodone and Tamiflu may safely be taken together as there is no interaction between the two medications.
Taking Oxycodone With Tamiflu
Tamiflu (oseltamivir) is an oral anti-viral medication that is used both for the treatment of influenza and prophylaxis. Per the prescribing information for Tamiflu, it isn't expected to interact with many medications. It is not highly protein bound and its metabolism isn't greatly affected by the CYP liver enzymes.
In fact, the only drug interaction that is listed for Tamiflu is with the medication probenacid. Administering Tamiflu with probenacid can result in a two-fold increase in Tamiflu concentration. However, as Tamiflu has a large window of safety, no dosage adjustments are needed.
Tamiflu has been tested with numerous medications that are often taken alongside of it. These drugs include:
- Amoxicillin
- Aspirin
- Cimetidine
- Antacids
- Warfarin
- Oxycodone
No drug interactions have been seen with Tamiflu and the above medications. Oxycodone is safe to take with Tamiflu and there is no drug interaction between the two.
