My fiancee is has blood pressure issues, and worried about taking Midol Complete with Spironolactone. The research I've been doing is hit and miss at best. Do these interact with each other, and how so?

Answer

There is no known drug interaction between Midol Complete and spironolactone.

Midol Complete is a combination product, which contains the following ingredients:

  • Acetaminophen (analgesic)
  • Caffeine (diuretic)
  • Pyrilamine (antihistamine)

If you are concerned about blood pressure and Midol, it is important to know that the product does contain caffeine, which is included for its diuretic properties. Caffeine can certainly cause temporary spikes in blood pressure. If your blood pressure is not well controlled, your doctor may advise against foods containing high amounts of it or using products that contain it (e.g. Midol Complete).

Nevertheless, as stated above, there is no drug-drug interaction between the ingredients in Midol Complete and spironolactone.
