Sarah asked

What are the differences between Estra/Noreth 0.5-0.1 mg tab and Jinteli 1mg-5mcg tab.

Answer

They are very close to being the same. They contain the same drugs but have varying amounts of them. They are different names for two different brand drugs.

  • Jinteli contains 1 mg of estradiol and 5 micrograms of norethindrone. Jinteli is another brand name for a drug known as Femhrt.
  • Estradiol/Norethindrone contains 0.5 milligrams of estradiol and 0.1 mg of norethindrone.  Estradiol/Norethindrone is generic for Activella.

We can compare the strength of the hormones in these two agents after we convert to similar units:

Jintelli

Estrogen: 1 milligram

Norethindrone: 0.005 milligram

Estradiol/Norethindrone

Estrogen: 0.5 milligram

Norethindrone: 0.1 milligram

So as you can see, they are close to the same. One contains twice the estrogen while the other contains twice the norethindrone. They both are indicated for menopausal symptoms and osteoporosis prophylaxis. The choice of agent really just depends on your specific symptoms.
