Hello, can I use a spacer with the Flovent HFA? The spacer I have is called an Easivent and I use it with my albuterol.

There are a number of available spacer devices on the market that are compatible with all MDIs (metered-dose inhalers), including Flovent HFA.
The simplest versions of spacer devices are open tube spacers, which just act as an extension of the inhaler’s mouthpiece. This makes the drug easier to administer, especially if you have problems with dexterity.
Another common version of a spacer device is known as the 'valved holding chamber (VHC)'. These products have a one-way valve, which prevents you from exhaling air into the device. This allows you to receive a full dose of the medication, even if you are having trouble coordinating the actuation of the MDI with breathing in.
While most spaces are essentially the same, many have additional or unique features.
For example, some are 'anti-static', which reduces the amount of the drug that sticks to the walls of the device, increasing the total dose of the medication you receive. This particular feature isn't overly necessary since electrostatic charges can also be reduced by simply washing the spacer device every once in a while.
In fact, manufacturers of spacer devices all require that you clean them intermittently.
Lastly, some spaces come with a mask, which is especially handy for young children and the elderly. Masks come in all different sizes so be sure you get the correct size for your face/mouth.
