Can you continue to take vitamins while doing a Reece's pinworm treatment?

Reeses Pinworm Medicine is an over the counter medication used to treat pinworms. There are no known interactions when taking with vitamins. So it is safe to continue taking vitamins while on Reeses Pinworm Medicine. Below is some information on pinworm infections and the medication Reeses Pinworm Medicine.
Pinworm Infections
Pinworm infections are caused by a round worm called Enterobius vermicularis. Pinworm infections can be passed very easily from person to person. Common symptoms of a pinworm infection include itching around the anal area. According to the CDC, washing hands with soap and water is the best way to prevent a pinworm infection. Patients with a pinworm infection should do the following to prevent the spread of the infection:
- Shower every morning
- Washing hands with soap and water after going to bathroom, changing a diaper or handling food
- Frequent changing of bed clothes and bedding. Items should be washed in hot water and dried in a hot dryer
- Keep fingernails cut short and clean
Reeses Pinworm Medicine is a generally well tolerated medication. Some common side effects include:
- Abdominal pain
- Loss of appetite
- Diarrhea
- Gas
- Nausea and vomiting
Relief of symptoms should occur in approximately 72 hours. Should symptoms reappear, a doctor should be consulted. Re-treatment with Reeses Pinworm Medicine should not occur unless under the direction of a doctor or other healthcare provider.
